The GED (General Education Development) is a US high-school equivalency credential, accepted for admission by community colleges, vocational schools and many universities in the United States.
Exam structure
Worth knowing:
- Each subject is scored 100–200. At least 145 per subject earns the credential; 165 and above is College Ready, and 175 and above is College Ready + Credit, which some colleges convert into course credit.
- The four subjects do not have to be taken on the same day.
- The test is taken on computer at an authorised test centre.

- Less wasted time — a placement test pinpoints exactly what to improve.
- Support that continues — an academic advisor stays with the student through the course and the exam run-up.
